As societies trivialize traditional values, we witness a flow of immense suffering. We anguish, for instance, over what happens to the unborn, who cannot vote, and to children at risk. We weep over children having children and children shooting children. Often secular remedies to these challenges are not based on spiritual principles. To borrow a metaphor—secular remedies resemble an alarmed passenger traveling on the wrong train who tries to compensate by running up the aisle in the opposite direction! Only the acceptance of the revelations of God can bring both direction and correction and, in turn, bring a ‘brightness of hope’ (2 Ne. 31:20). Real hope does not automatically ‘spring eternal’ unless it is connected with eternal things!
Elder Neal A. Maxwell
For we are not, like the world, left in the dark without a rudder, to be ever learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. We with know with certainty where the counsel of the Lord is to be found:
1. The written word of the Lord, the scriptures.
2. The counsel of the living prophets.
3. Personal revelation to each of us for guidance within the scope of our own assignments or circumstances.
Drinking deeply from these springs of living water will bless each member of the Church. Don’t let yourselves be too busy or too tired to so drink. The added strength, wisdom and inspiration which comes therefrom will repay your efforts a thousandfold.
Marion G. Romney
The Lord wants our hearts and our happiness. If we give him the first, he gives us the second.
Within the temples the crowning revelations and ordinances are given to men and women who will receive Christ with their whole heart. The temple ceremonies are scripture. Be a part of them. Go to the temple.
God will wrench your very heart strings and if you cannot stand it, you will not be fit for the Kingdom of God - Joseph Smith
Just finished shooting/acting for Uphill Battle up in Utah. Uphill Battle is a story about a woman whose husband leaves her and how she raises her children and deals with her circumstances as a single mother. This was my first shot at acting. I was asked by the writer/director to be the lead male role in the film. I came to it with some nervousness but paralleled excitement. After finishing the film, I was deeply affected. I met friends who will be lifelong and who I love very much. I was written in the script as Michael, a voice of hope, and I felt the spirit bear witness to me that I offered that properly in my character. I was blessed to have this experience and know again, as we have to know time and time again in our lives, that Jesus is the Christ. He heals us if we come to him. We must not resist the Savior ever again. We have to come unto Him with full purpose of heart and any sins, misgivings, scars, pains can be healed by the miraculous and infinite atonement.
